Brittany Mahomes Speaks Out On Kansas City Parade Shooting: 'Super Bowl Wins Will Never Be The Same'
Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, spoke out on the tragedy following the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade.
Brittany's supposed happy Instagram Stories from the parade took a different turn when multiple people got shot during the celebratory parade, with at least one death.
"Shooting people is never the answer. Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough," she wrote in one of her posts.
She continued, "Highly embarrassed and disappointed in this, Super Bowl wins will never be the same because of this. It's devastating."
"Lives lost and people injured during something that was supposed to be a celebration -- horrible and traumatizing. So many prayers going to the families involved," she added.
Her husband, Patrick, also posted about the incident on X, saying, "Praying for Kansas City," with three praying emojis.
The couple's posts come after at least one person died and more than 20 people got injured in the shooting incident that took place at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl 2024 victory rally in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday.
Gunshots were fired after Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and the rest of their team took the stage and addressed their estimated 1 million fans who came to celebrate their Super Bowl championship win against the San Francisco 49ers over the weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs also took to social media to issue a statement about the tragedy.
"We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today's parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all of Kansas City," the statement read.
"We are in close communication with the Mayor's office as well as the Kansas City Police Department," the team added.
The Kansas City Chiefs also assured fans through the statement that all of their players, coaches, staff and their families were "safe and accounted for."
The NFL team ended its statement by thanking the local enforcement officers and first responders who offered assistance on the scene.
