Meghan Markle surprised many when she joined the opening of a new wing of the animal charity, Mayhew, in honor of her late pal, Oli Juste.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared in London via a video link. In her speech, Markle was emotional as she shared how dog trainer Juste's death left her heartbroken.

"A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Mayhew who have worked tirelessly to bring this dream to life," Markle said, per Daily Mail. "It was so important to find a way to celebrate Oli's memory in a manner that he would have loved. Mayhew is a beacon of hope for those in need and a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together."

Markle also shared the news on the controversial Sussex.com website. According to the former actress, it was Juste who introduced her to Mayhew in 2019. She became its Royal Patron for three years.

Markle said the charity's mission "perfectly aligned" with Juste's work of caring for animals. She added that they shared several things throughout their friendship, including their "deep commitment to animal welfare and a love of rescue dogs."

"The Oli Juste Wing is a testament to his unwavering love and commitment to our furry friends, and will improve the lives of countless animals, reminding us all of the power of compassion, connection, and care," the post on Markle's website read.

Markle's appearance at a London-based charity comes after reports claimed that Prince Harry allegedly expressed interest in making a temporary comeback to resume his royal duties. Several outlets claimed that the Duke of Sussex expressed willingness to serve the monarchy again following his father King Charles' cancer diagnosis. The number of working royals has reduced since his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is also on a break following her abdominal surgery.

However, several sources claimed it would be impossible for Prince Harry to resume his royal role after he quit in 2020. The King and heir apparent reportedly share the same stand on not letting the Duke of Sussex return to his royal duties.

"Have the King and Harry been speaking? Yes," an unnamed source told Daily Mail. "Does this mean a return to the fold, even on a temporary basis? No. Aside from a small number of investitures, the King does not plan to offload a great number of duties on other family members while he undergoes treatment."

Another insider with knowledge of the matter who spoke to the Mirror about the same issue claimed there was "no chance" for Prince Harry to return because his big brother wasn't up to it.

"Whatever has been discussed between William and the King is private, but it is absolutely and categorically clear that he (William) would not allow Harry to return. He thought it was a bad idea at the time, and he's even more clear now," the source said.
