Cole Sprouse Recalls Having 'Full-On Fistfight' With Twin Dylan During An Audition
Cole Sprouse recalled a disastrous audition he did with his twin brother, Dylan, many years ago.
In a segment of an interview with Men's Health, the "Lisa Frankenstein" actor shared an unforgettable audition experience he had with his twin when they were 7 years old.
He shared that they auditioned for the roles of Thing One and Thing Two for "The Cat in the Hat," wearing the "stupid" Thing One and Thing Two outfits their mom had them wear in the hopes that they would get the gig.
"... it was horrible," Cole said of their audition.
He continued, "The casting directors were like, 'Go wild.' That was their only direction because that's what Thing One and Thing Two do -- they just go apes***. Dylan and I -- I don't know how it happened, but we went insane. You tell two 7-year-olds to go wild, and they'll go wild."
He added, "We broke a mirror on one of the walls of the dance studio and then somehow ended up in a full-on fistfight, totally unprompted."
The now 31-year-old actor described this memory as one of the auditions "that sticks out the most." And, yes, the twins did not get the job.
In the same interview, the "Riverdale" actor shared his thoughts on a possible onscreen reunion with Dylan.
He revealed that he had discussions with his twin brother about working on anything together again.
"It's not off the table!" Cole said.
However, he noted that he wants to avoid "twin-y" stuff because it is "pretty lame."
"The twin thing can become a circus act if it's not done well. And honestly, most of the time when it is done well, it's usually one actor trying to show off by playing both twins."
The actor continued, "So it's just about finding something that's cool and interesting and that actually plays with the twin idea a little deeper than, like, 'What if you said something at the same time?'"
Showing their twin connection, Dylan unconsciously mirrored his twin brother's thoughts regarding doing twin roles in a recent interview with E! News.
"I mean the thing is there's just not many opportunities for good twin roles that aren't taken by a single actor trying their hand at playing two people," said the "After We Collided" star.
Dylan continued, "So I feel like if we did do something together, we would have to make it, which is definitely not off the table."
The twins are mostly known for their roles as Cody and Zack Martin in the 2005 teen sitcom "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and its 2008 spin-off "The Suite Life on Deck."
