Do Melania Trump, Donald Trump Get Along Well? Ex-POTUS Once Claimed They Never Argue
Melania and Donald Trump's marriage has been subjected to various speculations, with some questioning if they are still together and if they get along well.
While Donald continues to claim that they're still in love and both have recently been seen together at several events, it's really hard to tell what their real status is. However, in a 2005 interview, Donald said he and Melania have never argued since becoming a couple in 1998.
Melania and Donald sat down for an interview with Larry King for CNN in 2005, after tying the knot. The host asked Donald about his proposal to Melania, and he revealed that they get along well and have not had an argument since being together.
"We were together five years, we literally never have an argument or forget about the word fight. We never had an argument. We're just very compatible, we get along," Donald said.
"And I just think, 'You know, it's time.' And it wasn't a big deal, I was always, 'We will have this.'"
Donald and Melania met at a New York Party in September 1998 and started dating shortly after. He proposed to her in 2004 and King felt their engagement took too long. However, Melania didn't mind it and said she was confident in their relationship.
"You know, we just had a great time, and we didn't worry about it. You know, we just live our lives, and then one day, surprise!" Melania said.
When asked about their first meeting, Melania said it was during Fashion Week. They were reportedly not introduced to each other and just happened to be at the same party. Donald admitted he was supposed to meet another supermodel but Melania got his attention.
"I went crazy. I was actually supposed to meet somebody else. There was this great supermodel sitting next to Melania. I was supposed to meet this supermodel. They said, 'Look, there's so and so.' I said, 'Forget about her. Who is the one on the left?' And it was Melania," Donald shared.
"It was a great chemistry and energy. We had a great time. We started to talk. And, you know, something was there right away," Melania added.
Melania has stood by Donald's side amid the many controversies and legal battles the businessman-turned-politician has faced throughout their marriage. She has also shown loyalty to him and has even defended him in public.
In 2016, Donald's derogatory remarks about women in a 2005 interview resurfaced during the election. Melania defended her husband and said his statements were "boy talk," alleging that host Billy Bush led Donald on "to say dirty and bad stuff," Us Weekly reported.
There were also rumors that Donald only paid Melania to be with him. However, she shut down these allegations, saying she had her "own voice and my own opinions, and it's very important for me that I express what I feel."
The Trumps' marriage recently raised eyebrows as they are rarely seen in public together. Whenever they are together, some speculate their marriage is not OK because they aren't lovey-dovey. For instance, at her mom's funeral, they left in separate cars, prompting some to speculate they were already living "separate lives."
Despite the various speculations about their marriage, the pair has stuck with each other. They were last seen in a black-tie gala at Mar-a-Lago, Melania's first major event since her mom's passing, and she was in "good spirits," according to Delia Hickman, the creator of the "Momma Loves Fashion," who was also in attendance at the gala.
"She seemed quiet but in very good spirits. She was smiling the whole time," Hickman said about the former first lady. "What I noticed, in particular, was that although everyone was waiting for Trump to make his grand entrance when he walked in and waved at everyone, he made sure to turn to her and acknowledge that she was there!"
