LOOK: Anne Hathaway Honors 'The Devil Wears Prada' With Cerulean Gown At SAG Awards
Anne Hathaway paid homage to her 2006 comedy film "The Devil Wears Prada" by wearing a cerulean blue gown to an awards ceremony.
As the Andrea Sachs to Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly, Hathaway graced the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet on Saturday in a stunning cerulean blue off-the-shoulder floor-length gown by Atelier Versace, Page Six reported.
The 41-year-old actress completed her look with a Bulgari diamond necklace and earrings, silver heels and a silver clutch.
Hathaway's choice of color for her red carpet gown is a nod to one of the most iconic dialogues in "The Devil Wears Prada."
The actress' stylist, Erin Walsh, told The Hollywood Reporter that they decided on the gown color after it was confirmed that Hathaway, Streep and Emily Blunt would present together at the 2024 SAG Awards.
"This is a very funny undertaking. We wanted to take it back and throw a bit of a curveball -- how about a little nod of archive cerulean blue Versace on the occasion of her presenting with some old friends?" Walsh explained.
The "Princess Diaries" star also revealed that she asked for a very specific color given the celebrities she'll be presenting with.
"This look was guided by a practical reality: I was literally stepping off a plane and onto the red carpet, so I needed something visually impactful but friendly on the body. Also, given who I was presenting with, I asked for a very specific color," she told the media outlet.
Hathaway's choice of cerulean blue for her gown is a throwback to her character's iconic scene with Miranda Priestly.
In the scene, Andrea chuckles while an assistant shows the diva editor-in-chief two belts of seemingly the same color.
"It's a tough call. They're so different," the assistant tells Priestly, making Hathaway's character snicker.
Priestly then gives Sachs a lecture on the different hues of blue, including the color of the sweater she was wearing -- cerulean.
"...that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean," Miranda tells Andrea.
Not only did Hathaway pay homage to her iconic movie with her cerulean gown, but she also imitated the iconic "No, no" line of Streep when they presented the nominees for Best Male Actor in a Comedy.
Meanwhile, Blunt also appeared to be in character as Emily Charlton.
The 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was held on Saturday at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California.
