In the entertainment industry, actors and actresses get all the fame but not necessarily all the fortune. The richest people in the business are often those who work behind the camera.
According to Forbes, the richest celebrity in the world is George Lucas, the genius behind "Star Wars." The moviemaker, who sold his production company Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.1 billion, is currently worth $5.4 billion. Next would be award-winning director Steven Spielberg at $4.8 billion.
On the other hand, the richest TV personality is "Shark Tank" judge Mark Cuban. But the Dallas Mavericks owner's net worth is only $6.2 billion. Dreamworks co-founder and record label tycoon David Geffen is worth more with his $8 billion net worth.
For actors, Oprah Winfrey, who is starring in Netflix's "Six Triple Eight," is only $2.8 billion rich. Meanwhile, Jay-Z's net worth is at $2.5 billion.
So who takes that crown as the richest person in showbiz? Well, his net worth is north of $65 billion.

His name may not ring a bell to movie buffs and online streaming addicts, but David Thomson, 3rd Baron Thomson of Fleet, is the richest man in the entertainment industry.
Thomson and his family have majority control over Thomson Reuters, where he sits as chairman. Thomson is worth $65.1 billion as of writing, making him the 20th richest person in the world.
The Canadian-British media magnate's family also has a stake in Bell Canada, the Globe and Mail newspaper in Toronto and the NHL's Winnipeg Jets.

Aside from collecting multi-billion businesses in his portfolio, Thomson, who has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge, is known to have a diverse art collection that includes pieces from Pablo Picasso and John Constable.
In 2016, he paid C$11.2 million ($US8.28 million) to purchase a painting by Canadian artist Lawren Harris called "Mountain Forms."
While he may not be a celebrity in the layman's definition of the term, David Thomson sure eclipses all celebrities and entertainment staff, actors and crew in terms of wealth.
