Columbus Mother Accused Of Fatally Shooting Son After Trying To Stab Him
A 44-year-old mother accused of fatally shooting her own son has been taken into custody in Columbus, Ohio. The incident reportedly unfolded following an alleged attempt by the mother to stab her son.
On Feb. 19, Columbus Police responded to a shooting incident on the 2800 block of Drew Heights Place. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Jahaad Hughes unresponsive on the ground. Medics transported Hughes to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

According to court documents obtained by WBNS-TV, Hughes mother, Laquandra Williams, reportedly tried to stab Hughes first. The 21-year-old reportedly managed to wrestle the knife away from his mother.
Williams allegedly told Hughes, "I'm going to show you something," before walking to her car.
As Hughes was about to leave, Williams reportedly shot him point blank. According to FOX-28, Williams approached police and admitted to the shooting. She is charged with aggravated murder and felonious assault and is being held at the Fairfield County Jail on a $1 million dollar bond.
Miykaia Adkins, Laquandra's daughter, commented about the incident on Facebook.
"MY mother was not in her right state of mind when this happened," she wrote. "My brother did not deserve to lose his life ! Her children is still grieving please don't go to hard on our mother. We forgive her and my brother is no longer suffering he's at peace.."
