Melania and Donald Trump clashed over several matters, including Stormy Daniels and decor, during his presidency, according to a new book.

New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers discussed the Trumps' alleged fights in the White House in her new historical book about U.S. first ladies, "American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden."

One of the things Trump and his wife reportedly disagreed on was furniture.

Rogers wrote in the book that Melania decorated the White House residence with modern aesthetic furniture, but the then-president preferred flashy decor and allegedly "replaced her choices with several pieces he liked better," according to People.

Trump and Melania reportedly also clashed over how to respond to crises, with the then-first lady taking a different stance from her husband on several occasions when he was president.

After a 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, left one person dead and more than 25 injured, Trump said there were "very fine people on both sides" of the clashes.

However, Rogers noted that Melania "quickly" condemned the violence, with the then-first lady posting on X (formerly Twitter) at the time: "Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let's communicate [without] hate in our hearts. No good comes from violence."

In addition, Trump and Melania fought over news channels, according to Rogers. While Trump was a big fan of Fox News, Melania reportedly watched CNN "voraciously" -- something her husband took issue with.

During an overseas trip in 2018, Trump allegedly became "incensed that his wife's television was tuned to CNN aboard Air Force One," the author wrote.

He allegedly had staff put on Fox News on all televisions on the presidential plane and in their hotel rooms, according to the book.

According to the author, some of Melania's actions triggered disagreements between the couple, including the infamous "I Really Don't Care, Do U?" jacket she wore during her June 2018 visit to migrant children at a detention center.

Melania's then-press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, said that after the jacket made headlines and sparked widespread speculation, Trump allegedly "summoned the two of them to his office" and "yelled at them," the book claimed.

Trump then allegedly "decided that the official explanation for the jacket would be that Melania was speaking directly to the media," Rogers wrote.

However, Rogers reported, citing former administration officials, that the jacket was allegedly a jab at Ivanka Trump, with whom Melania was "locked in a quiet competition for press coverage" at the time, according to the New York Post.

Meanwhile, Trump's scandals, including his alleged affair with Stormy Daniels, reportedly angered Melania during their time at the White House, the author wrote.

After the adult film star came forward in 2018 with allegations that she was paid $130,000 in exchange for her silence about a sexual encounter with Trump, Melania expressed how she felt over the scandal by canceling plans to join her husband on an overseas trip.

Rogers quoted Grisham, who traveled with Melania at the time, as saying: "I think she was pissed at Trump and wanted him to be a little humiliated that she took off."

Since leaving the White House in 2021, Melania has steered clear of the limelight, even as Trump actively began campaigning for a second term.

However, last week, Trump claimed during a town hall that Melania will soon join him on the campaign trail while emphasizing that she is a "private person."

"It's funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She's going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results," Trump told Fox News' Laura Ingraham of his wife. "She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country."

"American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden" hit shelves Tuesday.
