Lizzo Denies Turning Down Jennifer Lopez Film Role: 'Nobody Asked Me'
Lizzo is setting the record straight about claims that she rejected an offer to appear in Jennifer Lopez's new musical film.
The 35-year-old singer took to TikTok Wednesday to respond to Lopez's new documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," in which a member of the multi-hyphenate entertainer's team said Lizzo was one of the stars "not available" to cameo in "This Is Me...Now: A Love Story."
Lizzo claimed she never received an offer for a role in the star-studded movie musical.
"Ain't nobody told me nothing," Lizzo said in the TikTok clip. "Nobody asked me."
However, she made it clear there were no hard feelings, adding, "J.Lo, I love you."
Lopez has not publicly addressed Lizzo's comments as of this writing.
"This Is Me...Now: A Love Story," which serves as a musical and visual interpretation of the life events that inspired Lopez's new album "This Is Me...Now," features a long list of celebrity cameos, including her husband Ben Affleck, according to People.
Affleck made a cameo as a love interest whose face isn't shown and then as a newscaster named Rex Stone.
In the film, Sofía Vergara, Trevor Noah, Jane Fonda, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty and Neil deGrasse Tyson played members of the zodiac love council.
Derek Hough played one of three husbands, while Lopez's pal Fat Joe appeared as her therapist.
In Lopez's documentary, which gave fans an inside look into the making of Lopez's new album and musical film, it was revealed that many other stars were asked to appear in the movie but either declined or were unavailable.
These reportedly included Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Snoop Dogg, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge and Lizzo.
Vanessa Hudgens and Khloe Kardashian were reportedly also considered for the project.
Despite this, Lopez said she was happy with the final cast list for "This Is Me...Now: A Love Story," telling Entertainment Weekly there were no "stars who got away."
When deciding who would play the roles, Lopez said she invited "people with all different personality traits from all different walks of life. But they all have something that affected me in some way -- their philosophy on life, on love, on the universe, on music. That was the list that I made."
"What I want is people who represent a certain thing, who could understand what I'm trying to do here," Lopez added. "And that's what it took because they needed to trust me, and at the end of the day, I think it was a big leap of faith for some of them."
"This Is Me...Now: A Love Story" and "The Greatest Love Story Never Told" are available to stream on Prime Video.
