Prince Harry Is Causing Tension In Marriage By Pressuring Meghan Markle To Join UK Trip, Royal Expert Claims
Prince Harry is allegedly pressuring Meghan Markle to do one thing she doesn't like to do, according to a royal expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their royal duties in 2020 and settled in California. Previous reports claimed that the former "Suits" star had no plans to return to her husband's home country. Markle didn't join Prince Harry during King Charles' coronation and when he visited his father following his cancer diagnosis.
However, Prince Harry is expected to return to the United Kingdom for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Tom Quinn, royal commentator and author of "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle Tom Quinn," weighed in on how the upcoming trip would affect his marriage to Markle since he's been allegedly pressuring her to join him on his next U.K. visit.
"The Invictus Games -- it's one of the few areas of Harry's life where he feels on firm ground," Quinn exclusively told Mirror. "There's no doubt that helping disabled soldiers is a good thing, and it's something that Harry has tried to do without it becoming all about him, so it's good for brand Sussex, but only if Meghan is also there. So he is definitely putting pressure on her to join him."
The pressure could reportedly put a strain on their relationship. But Markle might change her mind as the visit would also mean she could see her ill father-in-law, King Charles.
"This is causing huge tension in the couple's relationship. Omid Scobie's book 'Endgame' tells us that Meghan never wants to visit the U.K. again, but she now realizes with the games coming up and her father-in-law seriously ill that you should never say never," Quinn continued.
Meanwhile, Jennie Bond, English journalist and former royal correspondent for the BBC for 14 years, said Markle might only meet with a few royals -- probably three -- if she were to return to the U.K. The other family members would reportedly consider their loyalty to Prince William and Kate Middleton before seeing the Sussexes.
"They could be confined, I think, to meetings with [King] Charles -- and perhaps [Princesses] Eugenie and Beatrice. The rest of the family would have to think hard about the implications of meeting Harry and Meghan," Bond told Mirror.
