Ben Affleck Protects Jennifer Lopez Despite Inner Anxiety After Tell-All Documentary, Body Language Expert Claims
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez stepped out after they released their tell-all documentary "The Greatest Loe Story Never Told."
The celebrity couple was spotted in Los Angeles on Sunday, just days after their documentary dropped on Amazon's streaming service. Judi James, a leading communication and body language expert who has appeared on several high-profile TV and Radio programs, including BBC News, Sky News, GB News and CNN, analyzed their photos during the outing.
According to James, the pair looked "puzzled." She also noticed that the "Let's Get Loud" singer was showing signs of "trepidation" and was presenting a persona from her documentary, which was "all about tousled, bare-faced anti-glamour."
"After releasing an emotionally bare-all documentary that digs well into the details of their marriage, it might be rather counter-intuitive of Ben and Jen to wear puzzled frowns and even, in Jen's case, signals of trepidation and even shyness when the photographers turn up," James told Mirror.
"Her body language dynamic with Ben looks similarly on-message in terms of the doc. He walks in front, chest puffed in Superman mode, looking like her rock and with his chin raised in a gesture of defiance while she is suddenly vulnerable, tucking in behind his arm with that puzzled frown on her face."
James added that Affleck was looking after his wife. This was despite the "Batman" star reportedly feeling some "inner anxiety or tension."
"Their hand clasp looks as though their fingers are meshed to show unity and intimacy. The only question in terms of their emotional synchronicity is who is guarding the bodyguard? Ben has had his own vulnerabilities in the past, but the focus now seems to be on him protecting Jen and boosting her self-esteem and confidence," the expert continued.
"Presumably, the therapeutic effects work both ways, but his heavily furrowed frown suggests he might also be suffering from feelings of inner anxiety or tension."
In the documentary, Lopez and Affleck spoke about their split in 2003. They admitted that they called off their "big wedding" because just days after they were supposed to exchange "I dos," they "crumbled under the pressure" of the excessive scrutiny they received around their private lives from the press.
Lopez turned the tables by speaking about their relationship from her perspective. The singer and actor-director reconciled nearly two decades after their split.
The "Marry Me" actress acknowledged that her husband wasn't "very comfortable" about the documentary and being the muse of her album, "This Is Me...Now," a sequel to her 2002 album "This Is Me...Then," which was also dedicated to Affleck. However, she still did it because she knew her spouse would support her.
"I don't think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this," Lopez said in the documentary. "But he loves me, he knows I'm an artist, and he's gonna support me in every way he can because he knows you can't stop me from making the music I made... he doesn't want to stop me. But that doesn't mean he's comfortable being the muse."
"The Greatest Love Story Never Told" streams exclusively on Prime Video.
