'Teen Mom' Alum Jenelle Evans Files For Permanent Separation From David Eason Due To 'Erratic' Behavior: Report
Jenelle Evans wants to end her marriage with David Eason by filing for a separation.
The former "Teen Mom" star has reportedly decided to permanently separate from Eason. The Sun obtained documents Evans filed on Feb. 23, stating that they officially separated on Feb. 16 "with the intent that the separation be permanent."
In North Carolina, spouses have to be separated for at least a year before they can file for an "absolute divorce," the outlet noted.
Evans cited "marital misconduct" and Eason's alleged "erratic" behavior as among the reasons she wanted to end their marriage. Evans and Eason share one child, daughter Ensley Jolie Eason, 7.
Jenelle is also a mom to Jace Vahn Evans, 14, and Kaiser Orion Griffith, 9. Jace is Evans' son with ex Andrew Lewis, who hasn't been involved in their son's life. Meanwhile, she co-parents Kaiser with her ex-boyfriend, Nathan Griffith, but she has primary custody of Kaiser.
"Defendant has committed further marital misconduct in that defendant upon information belief carried on criminal conversations with his ex-wife, who is the mother of his biological daughter, sometime in 2023," Evans wrote in her filing.
She added that when they were subjected to the Columbus County Department of Social Services (DSS) investigation and, she wasn't able to process the reality while fighting for the custody of Jace, who was removed from her primary custody due to Eason's "concerning" conduct. Jenelle also called out David's "erratic" behavior. He allegedly "exhibited concerning and at times disturbing behavior" toward her.
"Defendant has further committed marital misconduct in that he excessively uses alcohol and has not maintained consistent full-time employment for a number of years, has recklessly spent the party's money which plaintiff solely earns, and in other ways to be shown at trial," the court papers read.
The "Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom" writer claimed that Eason's "excessive use of alcohol was burdensome and rendered plaintiff's life intolerable." He allegedly drank regularly and spent the excess money he didn't earn on liquor, which could have gone to their minor kids. Evans also lashed out at her husband for leaving his 16-year-old daughter, Maryssa, behind when he left their home.
"Defendant developed no plan for ensuring both of his biological minor children were cared for and offered plaintiff zero support and assistance with any of the minor children during this time," the former reality star added.
To highlight Eason's alleged "erratic" behavior, Evans cited an incident in May 2019 when he shot and killed their pet French Bulldog Nugget in front of their kids, which resulted in Nathan getting picked by child protective services. Jace, who was staying with her mom, Barbara, wasn't allowed to stay at their home. Ensley was also removed from their residence for the same reason, the Daily Mail reported.
Jenelle and David wed in 2017 in North Carolina. In her memoir, the reality star said Eason was different from the men he previously dated.
"He was so different from the other men I had been with," Evans wrote in her book, per People. "I finally snagged a good man."
