'Sisters Wives' Star Garrison Brown Dead At 27; Janelle, Kody's Son's Death Investigated As Suicide
The stars of "Sister Wives" just lost a member of their family.
Kody Brown and Janelle Brown's son Garrison passed away on Tuesday. He was 25.
Garrison, who appeared alongside his parents and siblings on their reality show on TLC, was found dead at his home in Flagstaff, Arizona. The police responded to a report of a death and found him on the scene. The incident is being investigated as an apparent suicide as Garrison reportedly appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound, TMZ reported.
The Flagstaff Police told Variety that Garrison died "as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Janelle and Kody released a joint statement on Instagram following their son's death, along with some photos of Garrison.
"Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy, Robert Garrison Brown," Janelle wrote. "He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory."
Janelle and Kody were spiritually married in 1993. They share five other children aside from Garrison -- Logan, 29, Madison, 28, Hunter, 27, Gabriel, 22, and Savanah, 19. However, the reality couple announced their separation in December 2022.
Kody's relationship with his children became strained over the years. In one scene of their reality series, Janelle expressed concern over their sons' mental health as she reflected on their rocky relationship with their father.
"I have worried about my boys' mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he's also the kid who doesn't say anything," Janelle said, per Variety. She added that Garrison "just seems angry or sadder, like, he's not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be."
In an episode that aired in May 2023, the Brown patriarch admitted that his relationship with Gabriel and Garrison was not okay. However, he was hoping that they would reconcile in time.
"I think and hope that in time we'll just get over this and that we'll be safe being back around each other. Right now, there's not really an open door with Gabe and Garrison. They're they're not willing to engage me," Kody said.
