Jamie Foxx intends to provide a long-awaited explanation for his hospitalization last year.

The Oscar and Grammy Award winner, who faced an undisclosed "medical complication" in April 2023, generated concerns about his well-being for months, has now disclosed his intention to revisit his stand-up roots and share the details of what happened.

During the Special Achievement Awards luncheon hosted by the African American Film Critics Association, Foxx was honored with a special award. During his speech, he granted attendees a preview of the forthcoming disclosure regarding his recent health ordeal.

"Everybody wants to know what happened, and I'm going to tell you what happened. But I've gotta do it in my way," Foxx, 56, said. "I'm gonna do it in a funny way. We're gonna be on the stage. We're gonna get back to the standup sort of roots."

Foxx went on to tease the title of the upcoming special.

"It'll be called, 'What Had Happened Was,' and it's got all the things that happened, especially on our side of our community," he said.

The "Who Cloned Tyrone" actor also addressed the widespread speculation surrounding his health emergency, making reference to rumors including speculation he was cloned and the claim that he "dove out of a car to save this Black woman's purse."

In November, insiders reported that Foxx was facing challenges months after his hospitalization due to undisclosed medical complications.

"Cherish life," he added during his speech. "I have some people in my life that really made sure I was here because it was dire straits."
