A retired professional wrestler and former Republican congressional candidate was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with a murder investigation.

A warrant was issued for the arrrest of Daniel Rodimer for his suspected connection in the death of a man who succumbed to a head injury at a Las Vegas Strip hotel last year.

Rodimer, 45, is charged with murder in the death of Christopher Tapp.

On Oct. 29, Tapp, 47, received medical attention from responding personnel after being discovered at a Las Vegas hotel. He was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Tapp's demise was reportedly a result of an altercation leading to blunt force trauma to his head, as stated in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's press release on Nov. 22, 2023. The Clark County Coroner's Office officially ruled Tapp's death a homicide on Jan. 2, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Rodimer, is reportedly "flying in to address the warrant," according to the Las Vegas Justice Court docket as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The arrest warrant specifies a $200,000 bail for Rodimer.

"Mr. Rodimer is voluntarily surrendering to authorities and will post a court ordered bail," David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, his legal representation, wrote in a announcement to PEOPLE. "He intends on vigorously contesting the allegations and asks that the presumption of innocence guaranteed all Americans be respected."

Before venturing into politics, Rodimer was a professional wrestler, whose stagename was Dan Rodman. He signed a one-year contract with the WWE in 2006.

The former college football player challenged Democratic Rep. Susie Lee for her congressional seat in Nevada's District 3 in 2020. He lost by around 13,000 votes.
