Whoopi Goldberg Reveals 40-Year Age Gap With Ex-Partner
Whoopi Goldberg expressed her openness to date individuals of varying ages.
During a discussion about the film 'The Idea of You,' which explores an age-gap romance featuring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, she revaled how she's "gone up and down."
Goldberg, 68, said on an episode of 'The View' on March 7: "Because your age is not what's going to get me into your arms. It's not your age that I'm concerned about. Unless you're under 18, in which case I can't."
Goldberg surprised her co-hosts by sharing details about her previous relationship with an older partner during the discussion.
"One of the last relationships I had, he was 40 years older than me," Goldberg stated.
While Goldberg didn't disclose the name of her former partner, her granddaughter Amara Skye mentioned in the reality series 'A Claim to Fame' that in the 90s, Goldberg was involved in a relationship with "some white man named John, and he was, like, a billionaire." She continued "[he] was, like, 90 years old, and she used to go hang out with him."
While the EGOT winner has maintained a level of privacy about her dating life in the recent past.
In a 2021 episode of 'The View,' Goldberg shared that her inclination to date someone older or younger varies depending on the individual. Nevertheless, she expressed a waning interest in younger partners due to the generational gap.
The New York native has been married three times.
Her first marriage was to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979. Her second union was with David Claessen from 1986 to 1988. She wed Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, but divorced one year later.
