Meghan Markle Being 'Lovey-Dovey' To Harry Is 'All For Show,' Royal Expert Claims
Meghan Markle showered Prince Harry with praise at her recent speaking engagement.
The Duchess of Sussex was among the speakers at the SXSW Conference for International Women's Day alongside Katie Couric, Brooke Shields and Nancy Wang Yuen. Markle spoke fondly of Prince Harry, saying he was a "hands-on dad." The former "Suits" star also said she was fortunate to have an "incredible partner" in Prince Harry, who supports her activism.
Angela Levin, a journalist and Prince Harry's biographer, wasn't convinced about Markle's love-bombing. The "Harry: A Biography of a Prince" author claimed that Markle was only praising her husband as part of her rebranding because she allegedly had to fix her image issues.
"These new PR people are telling her: 'You've got to be positive. You've got to be lovey-dovey,'" the royal commentator told The Sun. "'You've got to be upbeat and bring him in.' It's all so phony. I don't think any of us should believe it. It's all for show and part of her rebrand."
In her speech, Markle praised her husband as a dad to their two children -- son Archie, 4, and daughter Lilibet, 2.
"My husband is such a hands-on dad and such a supporter of me and our family," the "Horrible Bosses" actress said. "I don't take that for granted. That is a real blessing. A lot of people don't have that same level of support."
Before the event, another royal expert spoke about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's marriage. Tom Quinn, royal commentator and author of "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle Tom Quinn," claimed that Prince Harry was causing tension in their marriage by convincing Markle, who allegedly doesn't want to return to the United Kingdom, to join him in his next U.K. trip for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
"There's no doubt that helping disabled soldiers is a good thing, and it's something that Harry has tried to do without it becoming all about him, so it's good for brand Sussex, but only if Meghan is also there. So he is definitely putting pressure on her to join him," Quinn told Mirror.
"This is causing huge tension in the couple's relationship. Omid Scobie's book 'Endgame' tells us that Meghan never wants to visit the U.K. again, but she now realizes with the games coming up and her father-in-law seriously ill that you should never say never."
Last week, Prince Harry and Markle were spotted enjoying dinner at Soho House Austin in Texas. They dined at a corner table and were reportedly "happy and in great spirits." An anonymous onlooker told People that the pair was "super low key and seemed happy to be around the upbeat vibes at the lively venue."
