Paul McCartney Gets Sign Language Wrong for 'My Valentine" Video
Paul McCartney's "My Valentine" music video starring Hollywood actors Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp performing sign language, has signing errors.
Hearing impaired people claim on YouTube that Portman signed the word "tampon" instead of "appear" and Depp signed "enemy" insted of "Valentine."
"No offence but he's not close either. The ASL sign for valentine is completely different from what he's doing, And i don't know if he's saying enemy in british sign language but its not the ASL sign for enemy because that also alot different," one person commented on YouTube.
The music video was directed by McCartney and despite the errors, his work was praised by the British Deaf Association to bring attention to the language.
''It's great that famous people such as Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman are highlighting the use of sign language. Their use of it is more a poetic expression," a spokesman for the Association told British tabloid The Sun.
