Melania, Donald Trump's Marriage Not On The Rocks, Former Aide Says
Melania Trump and Donald Trump's marriage "works," at least for them, according to Melania's former aide.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former friend and aide of Melania, took to X, formerly Twitter, and clarified her statement about the Trumps' marriage after several outlets quoted her for her remark about Trump's lack of "chivalry" toward his wife. She stressed that she was only pointing at the change in Melania and Donald's dynamic, but other than that, she wasn't insinuating that they were having marital woes.
"My tweets don't imply Donald & Melania Trump's marriage is 'on the rocks' & I didn't 'ironically' come to Melania's 'aide' by stating a fact, which is that their marriage 'is what is it,'" Winston Wolkoff wrote. "As I wrote in 'Melania and Me,' their marriage 'works' for them both. Literally! Just highlighting the shift in their dynamic."
The "Melania and Me" author previously shared a clip of Donald and Melania on the same social media platform. The post was a montage from different engagements of the former first couple where Melania and Trump were seemingly distant from each other. It also included the Trumps' most recent public engagement when they hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán last Friday.
"Let me bottom line this for you," Winston Wolkoff wrote in the caption, fueling the rumors about the Trumps' marital woes. "Perception is everything to the Trump Family, so Donald's lack of 'chivalry' towards Melania is quite a 'tell.'"
In a separate tweet, Winston Wolkoff reacted to Melania's noticeable absence from Trump's Super Tuesday victory party. According to her, the ex-FLOTUS wasn't expected to be there because "she did NOT have to be." She also claimed that Trump's supporters didn't care whether Melania was by his side or not.
The Super Tuesday victory bash happened days before Melania and Trump reunited to host Orbán. When the couple met with the Hungarian politician at their residence in Mar-a-Lago, Melania looked stunning in her all-white pantsuit. The former first lady even looked surprised when the PM handed her a bouquet.
Melania and Trump were also together at the Trumpette's gala in Mar-a-Lago in February. Delia Hickman, the creator of the "Momma Loves Fashion" blog who was present at the event, said that Melania was "in very good spirits" and was "smiling the whole time," and Trump made sure to acknowledge his wife when he made his grand entrance.
Meanwhile, in a previous interview with "BBC Newsnight" in 2020, Winston Wolkoff claimed that Melania and Trump's marriage was a "transaction."
"I do, I do believe it's a transactional marriage," she said. "Donald, you know, Donald got arm candy. The Vogue cover legitimized Melania, which legitimized Donald as well, and Melania got two dynamic decades."
"I mean, she was a young model striving. She didn't have the success yet; she met Donald, she married, she had a son, she became an American citizen, and 10 years after that, she's the first lady of the United States, so I do believe it was a magic moment, and I also believe it was a made-for-tv moment."
