'Doctor Who' Christmas Special 2024 Already Underway; Schwarzenegger Stars In Amazon Holiday Comedy
Two upcoming Christmas specials await holiday film and TV fans this December.
Screenwriter-TV producer Russell T. Davies wrote in a previous issue of Doctor Who Magazine that he was working on the script of "Doctor Who's" upcoming Christmas special, per the Radio Times.
"For the first time ever, I'm writing a Christmas Special... at Christmas! And this isn't for next year, no, the 2023 script has been long since signed off. The new one is for the end-of-year 2024," he wrote at the time.
"Bridgerton" star Nicola Coughlan was previously announced to star in the Christmas special.
"[We've got] Nicola Coughlan at Christmas. Not this Christmas, next Christmas. We're shooting Christmas 2024 now," Davies confirmed in November last year.
On New Year's Eve, the original showrunner of the BBC's sci-fi series teased the show's holiday special with an Instagram post showing a photo of him with BBC's Alan Yentob in Cardiff's Bad Wolf Studios.
"And the point is -- there, right behind us, that's one of the sets from the Christmas 2024 episode of 'Doctor Who!' The future! Right there. But what terrible secrets does it hide?" he captioned his post.
Talking about another holiday special, Arnold Schwarzenegger will co-star with "Reacher" actor Alan Ritchson in Amazon MGM Studio's Christmas comedy titled "The Man With The Bag."
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the "Terminator: Dark Fate" actor is starring in the family Christmas comedy helmed by director Adam Shankman and written by scriptwriter Allan Rice. The project's producers include Ritchson, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman and Dan Spilo.
The holiday comedy film will reportedly follow the story of Santa Claus as he learns that his magic bag has been stolen. To get it back, he turns to his naughty list and finds Vance, a reformed thief, to partner with to get his bag back.
"Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas," the film's logline reads, per Deadline.
There is no word yet on who is playing who, but it is assumed that Schwarzenegger will take on the role of Santa Claus.
