Michael B. Jordan explained his cautious approach to romance despite occasional feelings of loneliness during a recent interview.

"There's a loneliness that I have," he said 'On Purpose With Jay Shetty' podcast Monday. "The responsibility that you have is isolating and the weight is isolating. The worst part of that is the feeling like nobody really understands. Sometimes falling into the spaces of being alone, feeling alone."

Jordan, 37, then expressed his inner conflict, stating that he frequently weighs the desire for companionship against uncertainty about finding the right partner. He elaborated that, in his view, an ideal relationship transcends mere mutual affection, emphasizing that love alone should suffice in a partnership, though acknowledging that reality is more complex than that.

Jordan emphasized his search for a partner who can "understand all of me and all that comes with me as well." Additionally, the 'Creed' actor highlighted the importance of finding someone who comprehends his need for "that balance between wanting to be available and there for that person while I'm juggling everything else."

The California native detailed his difficulty in "feeling OK to put the other part of my business down," underscoring the notion that relationships entail "sacrifice" and "compromise."

Jordan's reluctance to commit further arises from his extensive acting career, which he explained has inhibited his adventurous spirit. "There's also a part of me that really hasn't lived life yet. ... I haven't traveled for fun," he shared. "I gotta start living. I've sacrificed and I've zoned in for so long."

Jordan, who was named 'PEOPLE' magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 2020, dated Lori Harvey. The pair confirmed their relationship in January 2021, but broke up in June 2022.

"It's not just 'I love you, you love me,' " Jordan said, adding that even though he believes it "should be enough" to just love your partner, "It's not quite that simple."
