Wendy Williams' ex-husband Kevin Hunter is asking for spousal support from his ex-wife, per a motion recently filed in the state of New Jersey.

Hunter, 51, filed the motion with the Superior Court on Tuesday, requesting two years of spousal support following their divorce in 2020, stating that living without the support from the former talk show host has "affected him greatly."

Hunter also stated in the petition that payments were paused after his ex-wife was placed under legal guardianship, and Willams' team has reportedly not been helpful during the process. Per court documents, Hunter has filed a lawsuit in order to collect back support checks.

His request for spousal support payments comes after her recent diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. Williams, 59, received the diagnosis after undergoing a "battle of medical tests."

He highlighted in the petition that his ex-wife agreed to offer him "severance pay" under the "Matrimonial Settlement Agreement." However, according to him, he hasn't received that pay since January 2020. He told courts that outside mediation had failed, which led him to pursue legal action.

"This is an emergent matter because I rely on the severance pay for my living expenses, and having been without this income for twenty-three months has affected me greatly," Hunter told the court, per the U.S Sun.

In addition to asking she "immediately pay all severance payments which may be due and owing at the time of this Court's Order," he is also seeking to present documents regarding Williams' AFTRA retirement plan.

"I also respectfully request that the court compel the Plaintiff to sign the Qualified Domestic Relations Order for the AFTRA Retirement Plan or in the alternative appoint me an Attorney in Fact so that I can execute the document if the Plaintiff does not sign the document within seven (7) days of this Court's Order," he added.

The U.S. Sun obtained documents which stated Hunter implored the court to persuade Williams' team to show bank records stemming back from the date of "dissolution of marriage until current."

Following Williams' diagnosis, Wells Fargo froze her bank accounts citing a "strong reason to believe that [Williams] is the victim of undue influence and financial exploitation."

Much of the former 'Wendy Williams Talk Show' host's health and financial concerns were largely highlighted in her recent Lifetime documentary, 'Where Is Wendy Williams?' which aired between Feb. 24 - 25.

Producers of the candid Lifetime series recently admitted to being blind-sided by Williams' declining health while filming, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "If we'd known she had dementia, no one would have rolled a camera."

Producer Mark Ford stated: "At a certain point, we were more worried about what would happen if we stopped filming than if we continued."
