Melania Trump is prioritizing her son, Barron Trump, amid her husband Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

While her absence from Donald's campaign events has sparked concerns about the couple's marriage, an unnamed source told People that Melania is focused on taking care of Barron and looking at colleges for the teen, who turns 18 this month.

"Melania's main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it's possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school," the source said. "Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years."

Barron has been attending the exclusive private school Oxbridge Academy since his family left the White House in 2021, according to the Palm Beach Post.

"Melania is all about Barron and her family," People's insider added. "She has always been family-oriented, and in addition to some of the charity work she has done, staying ahead of family issues is her priority. She has a good life."

While Melania has been seen in at least three events at the couple's Florida home Mar-a-Lago in recent months, the former first lady has been largely absent from the 2024 campaign trail since Donald announced his third bid for the White House in late 2022.

Unnamed insiders told People that Melania prefers to spend time with her son and her father, Viktor Knavs, over attending campaign rallies and gatherings.

The former model "dislikes a petting zoo" and only attends events "when she has to," one unnamed social and political source claimed to the outlet.

According to the insider, Melania tends to avoid events with huge crowds even when they're held at Mar-a-Lago.

Donald reportedly has no issue with his wife steering clear of the campaign trail, with one unnamed political source describing him to the outlet as a "loner horse."

However, Melania reportedly still needs to make an appearance for important events, such as the dinner the couple recently held in honor of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at Mar-a-Lago.

"She knows there are certain events she must attend and Donald is okay with her going to those, but not everything," the source added. "He does well on his own. So many people want to talk to him and be around him that he doesn't dwell on who is not there."

Last month, Donald emphasized that his wife is a "private person" after being asked about her absence from campaign events.

The GOP presidential candidate told Fox News' Laura Ingraham that Melania is "going to be out a lot" on the campaign trail but suggested that the ex-first lady doesn't like appearing at rallies.

During the town hall, Trump also said that Melania's "life evolves around" their son Barron and that it was "important" to her that she prioritizes taking care of him.

Some political experts previously suggested that Melania may be trying to distance herself and Barron from Donald's scandals and legal troubles.

Grant Reeher, a professor of political science at Syracuse University and director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute, suggested to The Mirror last month that Melania seemed "less enthusiastic" this time around compared to previous campaigns.

"She may be keen to guard Barron from becoming too exposed," Reeher claimed. "Once you draw on your family, they become fair game for the media and opposition research."
