Dean McDermott Talks Overcoming Drug Addiction, Becomes Breathwork Specialist Following Sobriety
Dean McDermott got candid regarding his experience battling drug and alcohol addiction in an exclusive interview with Page Six.
McDermott, 57, bluntly called his addiction "horrible," admitting that the way he was living his life was not right before he finally surrendered and asked for help.
"It's amazing when we ask, y'know? It's a simple thing but very difficult to do when you're at the end of your rope," he stated. "You don't know where to turn."
"I turned my life around! And it's amazing today," he said enthusiastically.
He credits his new life and newfound way of living to Harmony Place Treatment Center in Woodland Hills, California, and Freedom House Sober Living.

The "Open Range" star was all smiles, claiming he "turned his life around," crediting his work in recovery today to his experience in treatment while at Sober Living.
Going into treatment, the father made a deal to himself that he had to be all in or nothing. "Coming in at 55 years old, it's just not a good look. I had to get this right," he stated.
One of the programs had four groups a day six days a week, one of which was a "breathwork" program. He challenged himself to try the session and says he "fell in love" with it. The program changed his life after "the very first session."

In fact, McDermott loved it so much that he went on to become certified in breathwork, becoming a breathwork specialist. He now offers this treatment option to drug addicts and alcoholics via his newfound company Conscious Community.
Co-founded with a buddy of his, Eric Duffner, he explains his company is a one-stop-shop for anything you need at a treatment center or outpatient program, including sound baths, yoga, breathwork, process groups, and more.
The actor says his estranged wife, Tori Spelling, has been supportive throughout the process, as well as his new girlfriend, Lily Calo.
On Thursday, Page Six reported that Spelling, 50, and new girlfriend Calo "get along fabulously."
"If I do the right things and I live an estimable and respectable life, you know, I get these wonderful gifts in my life," he told the publication.
