Lil Nas X ran a half marathon as if he was walking the red carpet.

On Sunday, the 24-year-old rapper joined the 2024 United Airlines NYC Half marathon organized by New York Road Runners wearing a pair of Coach distressed high-top sneakers instead of the regular running shoes.

While the "Industry Baby" artist tried to buy a pair of running shoes because he didn't own one, he failed because the sneaker shop he went to was closed, per Page Six. After failing to secure a pair of appropriate footwear, he just used his Coach sneakers instead.

He wore it with his green running long-sleeve shirt, black shorts and a matching turban.

Despite going for style over practicality during the half marathon, the rapper with bib number B2271 finished well and completed the race in 2:32:53.

Other famous racers who joined over 25,000 runners in the 13.1-mile race were Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes and Ginger Zee.

As of press time, the sneakers Lil Nas X wore during the race are no longer available on Coach's website and Amazon.

Last month, the Coach ambassador was featured in the brand's new #CourageToBeReal campaign video alongside Imma, the first virtual human and model in Japan, Lee Youngji, Camila Mendes, Wu Jinyan and Kōki.

Like the campaign's banner, "the courage to change the game," the rapper seemed to have unintentionally changed the game with his footwear choice in the half marathon.

The rapper became a brand ambassador for the luxury fashion house in October 2022. Coach announced the news with a film showing "the story of Lil Nas X's evolution to become the person he is today, and the obstacles he overcame."

Coach creative director Stuart Vevers said that Lil Nas X has helped realize his vision for Coach "to create a fashion world where people feel free to express themselves as they are."

"To bring this vision to life, I was thrilled to bring Lil Nas X and Petra Collins together with Coach for the first time --two artists who have changed the world around them by being themselves. The film we created together is a new form of storytelling that not only feels unexpected and different for us, it helps to create a community around the values we share with the next generation," Vevers said at the time.
