Following her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021, Christina Applegate has taken a hiatus from acting.

However, she remains optimistic about the possibility of rejoining the entertainment industry in some capacity down the line.

On the inaugural episode of her latest podcast, MeSsy with Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the 'Dead to Me' actress opened up about contemplating a potential return to the profession she has cherished since childhood.

When discussing the topic, her podcast co-host, fellow actor Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has been managing MS for 22 years, addressed Applegate, saying: "I will let you say that you're done acting for now, but you are amazing, and wonderful and important and so talented, and your talent is very singular and special. And there's no other person that's like you."

Sigler, 42, known for her role in 'The Sopranos,' proposed to Applegate the idea of considering roles portraying characters with MS, emphasizing that such characters need not solely revolve around their illness.

Applegate, 52, joked that she couldn't handle something so overly emotional, to which her friend replied that she wouldn't push the idea right away but believed it might be something Applegate would consider in the future. Later, Applegate admitted that she misses acting.

"I do miss that because in all honesty, the only thing I ever had my entire life was work. ... I grew up on sets. ... The inner workings, the outer workings of being on a set is all I really know. I love that place," the 'Married... with Children' star said.

Since 2021, Applegate has been grappling with MS, revealing her diagnosis to the public in August of that year. She has candidly discussed the symptoms that preceded her diagnosis, including tingling sensations in her limbs, challenges with mobility, and a sense of imbalance. Applegate suspects that these symptoms began manifesting six or seven years prior to her diagnosis.
