Donald Trump Defends Kate Middleton From Photo Scandal, Calls Out Prince Harry For Disrespecting Royals
Donald Trump spoke about the royal family in a recent interview.
On Tuesday, the former U.S. president sat down for an interview with GB News' Nigel Farage. They discussed various topics, including the royal family and Middleton's Mother's Day photo scandal, which Trump didn't think was a big deal.
"Well, that shouldn't be a big deal because everybody doctors" photos of themselves, Trump said when Farage mentioned that the Princess of Wales was in a tough situation after being dragged into a controversy following her abdominal surgery.
"You look at these movie actors, and you see a movie actor, and you meet them, and you say, 'Is that the same person in the picture?' And I looked at that actually, and it was a very minor doctoring," Trump added.
The former president said he couldn't understand the buzz over the issue and why Middleton's edited photo made headlines when the press went after her. He acknowledged that it was a "rough period" for the future queen.
In the same interview, he was asked about Prince Harry's visa, and the ex-POTUS said he hasn't spoken to the Duke of Sussex for a long time. Trump then called him out for allegedly disrespecting the royal family, especially his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
"I think there was great disrespect done to a person that I got to know very well and like, the Queen. She was unbelievable. You know, I got to know her very well. Remember, I was supposed to be with her for 10 to 15 minutes, and we ended up being like for two hours, and then we had dinner," the businessman-turned-politician said.
"It was such a beautiful honoring [of] the country [not] the president of the United States -- really I would think the country, but they were honoring me. And I got to know her very well over the course of [a] couple of years, and she was unbelievable, and I thought she was treated very disrespectfully by them [Prince Harry and Meghan Markle]," Trump added.
Trump said that even if the Queen didn't show it because she was strong, he believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke her heart. Regarding Prince Harry's visa, Trump said if reelected, he would take the "appropriate action." However, he didn't say deportation. When Farage pressured him to say if he meant deportation, Trump did not confirm anything and left the possibility open.
