Dollar Tree Inc. recently announced that it will be shutting down nearly 1,000 of its stores across the U.S. and locations for some of these have finally been revealed.

In a press release on March 13, the company said it will close down 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of 2024. Another 400 Family Dollar and Dollar Tree stores will shutter over the next several years after significantly underperforming the past year.

"Family Dollar does not want to invest in markets where it cannot win and is not particularly profitable," Neil Saunders, GlobalData managing director, said in a note published by CBS News.

The store closings have been negatively felt by some communities, with jobs lost and access to stores now limited in certain areas.

While the final list of Family Dollar store closings has yet to be released, here are some locations where the stores are confirmed to be closing for good:

Peoria, Illinois

At least two stores in Peoria are set to close soon, with the one located at 3116 N. Sterling Ave. already hanging a "store closing" and "everything must be sold" banners, according to the Peoria Journal Star.

Another store at 820 NE Jefferson St. is already preparing to shutter, the outlet said.

Humansville, Missouri

A sign on the door of the Humansville Family Door says "We are closing this store only" and encourages customers to visit two other locations nearby, KY3 reported.

Willow Springs, Missouri

The location at Willow Springs is also on the list and has started offering its items at up to 90% off.

Kansas

Three stores in the state are confirmed to be closing -- in Peabody, Marion and at 13th and Broadway in Wichita.

East Liverpool, Ohio

The Family Dollar at 615 Walnut St. has started preparing for its closing with signs posted all over its windows. An employee told The Review that all items are 50% off and its last day is expected to be on April 17.

Middletown, New Jersey

The location at the Eastpointe shopping center on Route 36 is already offering its items at 50% off with signs saying "Store closing. Everything must be sold."

Wilmington, North Carolina

Two Wilmington-area Family Dollar locations -- on Greenfield Street and Carolina Beach Road -- are also included in the list, WECT reported.

Lynchburg, Virginia

Family Dollar stores on Campbell Avenue and Federal Street are also closing down.
