Barron Trump Possibly Leaving Home After Turning 18 Can Be Heartbreaking For Melania, Psychologist Says
Barron Trump has been Melania Trump's priority, so it might be difficult for her if he leaves home for college, according to a psychologist.
Dr. Sanam Hafeez, a New York City-based neuropsychologist and director of Comprehend the Mind, spoke with Nicki Swift about the mother and son's relationship. Barron just turned 18 and is no longer a minor. This gives him more freedom, so his mom might not be able to keep tabs on him like before.
He might also leave home for school and this would not be easy for the former first lady. According to the expert, with Donald Trump away most of the time for his political career, Melania turned to her son for emotional support.

"In the healthiest of parent-child relationships, turning 18, growing into a young man and leaving home is a huge deal for most mothers. Mothers and sons enjoy a more affectionate, less strained relationship than mothers and daughters, especially in the teen years, and Melania may have even leaned on Barron in tumultuous times or busied herself with his life," Hafeez said.
"It doesn't appear that [Donald] Trump does much of the parenting, and even if he does, he is publicly too busy to be a present father, leaving Melania to fret on her own," he continued. "Barron leaving home is more than just a son going away. It is a son becoming possibly subject to ridicule or harm, as well as [Melania's] loneliness and lack of emotional support that she may have derived from [him]."
Melania opts to stay at home and skips her husband's public events most of the time to be with their son and keep him away from the spotlight. The ex-FLOTUS is reportedly also focused on looking at colleges for him.
"Melania's main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it's possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school," an unnamed source told People. "Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years."
Barron turned 18 on March 20. According to Mike Tyson, who had dinner with the Trumps last year, the youngest member of the family is "very intelligent."
"Man, this kid, this guy is on top of his game intellectually," the former professional boxer said when he appeared on the "PBD" podcast.
