Royal commentator Tessa Dunlop has suggested that Prince Harry is experiencing a profound sense of discomfort in light of his sister-in-law's recent cancer diagnosis.

Reportedly, the Duke of Sussex, 39, is wrestling with regret for the candid revelations he made about his distant family members in his much-anticipated memoir, 'Spare,' released in 2023.

Tessa Dunlop, a respected voice on royal matters, told Us Weekly that discovering one's sister-in-law's battle with cancer after disclosing irrevocable information in a memoir can undoubtedly lead to considerable emotional turmoil.

"When you do discover that your sister-in-law has cancer and you've written stuff that can't be retracted, that's quite a painful place to be in," she said.

Dunlop highlighted that the previous criticisms voiced by Harry and Meghan Markle towards the royal establishment have taken on a more negative light, particularly given the current health challenges faced by the Princess of Wales, 42, and King Charles III, as they battle cancer.

"They deliberately criticize the monarchy [and then offer] themselves as an alternative to monarchy. So then when the monarchy is in trouble, we do kind of make a comparison. Can Harry and Meghan really hold themselves off as the caring example now?" she questioned.

"They're certainly going to have to be careful of their timing with any releases so that it doesn't look opportunistic," she suggested.

Dunlop cautioned that the Sussexes must exercise caution and reconsider any future disclosures concerning Harry's family members.

"When that comes creeping in the door, that just reframes everything," she continued.

After 'Spare' was published in January 2023, reports suggested that Middleton was surprised by the criticisms leveled against her and fellow royals in the memoir. She reportedly harbored no intentions of pardoning Harry and Meghan for what she perceived as a "public betrayal."
