Kate Middleton's Cancer Diagnosis Shocked Meghan Markle But Not Enough To Patch 'Poisonous' Relationship: Royal Expert
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's relationship hasn't changed despite the former's cancer diagnosis, according to a royal expert.
Tom Quinn, a royal commentator and biographer, weighed in on the relationship between Prince Harry's sister-in-law and wife. According to the "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle" author, Markle was surprised after learning that the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer. But Kate's condition would not be enough reason for Meghan to patch their "poisonous" relationship.
"Kate's cancer diagnosis has been a real shock for Meghan, but she can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous," Quinn told the Mirror.
"She also doesn't want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill. Meghan still feels Kate was in the wrong and should apologize before they try to build bridges."
Quinn also claimed that the former actress showed no remorse about how she was feeling toward the future queen consort. Markle allegedly believed that Middleton should have helped her when she joined the firm because both of them were commoners, and if there was one person who should back her up, it should have been her sister-in-law.
"Megan doesn't feel guilty about Kate because she feels that Kate should've been the one person in the Royal family to back her against every difficulty," Quinn said.
Meanwhile, Quinn claimed that Prince Harry wanted to reconcile with Middleton. He allegedly missed his warm relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge.
"He really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, and he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to. Losing Kate was Harry's second great loss after losing his mother," Quinn said.
Prince Harry was close to Prince William and Middleton before he dated and married Markle. Ingrid Seward, a royal biographer and editor of Majesty magazine, claimed that Prince Harry was a frequent visitor at the Waleses' house, but their relationship became "disruptive" when Markle joined the picture.
"Kate, Harry and [Prince] William were a really close-knit trio. ... They all got on really well. And Harry was constantly around at Kensington Palace having supper with them, borrowing things from their fridge," Seward said of the three royals.
"And then Meghan came into the mix, and it was disruptive. It wasn't like the other girlfriends. There [wasn't] that warm feeling. I think it started on the wrong foot."
