Robert De Niro, 80, Shows Affection For 45-Year-Old Girlfriend At White House Event
Robert De Niro attended a White House event with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
The couple was photographed holding hands while walking as they arrived at the White House on Wednesday for a state dinner in honor of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The 80-year-old Hollywood actor, in his classic black tuxedo, was seen smiling as he held his 45-year-old girlfriend's hand in front of the photographers and members of the press.
Chen, on the other hand, wore a white strapless, floor-length gown she accessorized with a beige shawl, black clutch and black pumps. This was not the first time the couple was seen being affectionate in public.
In August 2021, when Chen was still considered a "mystery woman," the two were spotted holding hands while walking and kissing on a boat during their vacation in the south of France.
De Niro had just come out of a "bitter divorce battle" with his estranged wife Grace Hightower at the time.
The "Goodfellas" star and Hightower met in 1987, tied the knot in 1997 and welcomed their son Elliot in 1998. After divorce and custody battles in the early years of their marriage, they reconciled and renewed their vows. They also welcomed their second child, Helen Grace, via surrogate in 2011, according to People.
In 2018, the pair filed for divorce after deciding it was time to go their separate ways.
The actor-producer was reportedly still married to Hightower when he first met Chen, a martial arts instructor, in 2015, on the set of "The Intern," per People.
However, it was only in 2021 that their working relationship blossomed into a romance.
De Niro and Chen reportedly celebrated their first child Gia's first birthday last weekend.
Gia is the Oscar Award-winning actor's seventh child after his other children from his previous relationships -- Drena and Raphael with Diahnne Abbott, Aaron and Julian with Toukie Smith, and Elliott and Helen Grace with Hightower.
