Korra Obidi described a purported assault, which she asserted involved the hurling of a liquid substance, as a "wake up call."

Obidi was hospitalized following an incident where she claims to have been stabbed while in London.

On Thursday, the former 'So You Think You Can Dance' participant, who auditioned for the FOX program in 2019 during her pregnancy, claimed she was assaulted with a knife, while being targeted with a liquid substance in an Instagram statement.

Accompanying her caption was a video, seemingly recorded shortly after the incident, where she expressed feeling a burning sensation on her face and urgently requested a bystander for some Coca-Cola to alleviate it.

The bystander, observing blood on the Nigerian dancer, promptly provided her with a bottle of soda, which she proceeded to apply to her face. Subsequent footage in the video displayed a yellow knife on the ground, visibly stained with blood.

According to a statement acquired by PEOPLE from the Metropolitan Police in London, the substance was subsequently verified as "a non-noxious cosmetic item."

"Currently in an ambulance to the hospital, there was a knife, acid attack on me in the UK in the middle of a live stream. There's been a lot of hate in the past but this physical assault is a wake up call," she captioned the post.

Obidi, who participated in the live auditions for the dance show in 2019, but did not progress further, also asserted that her purported assailant was described as a "Black female" who was "5 foot."
