Beyoncé 'Cowboy Carter' Caused Spike In Sales Of Levi's Jeans, Western Boots
Levi's is benefiting a lot from being featured in Beyoncé's latest album.
Four days before releasing "Cowboy Carter" on March 29, Queen Bey posted a photo of her in an all-denim ensemble -- cropped denim jacket, denim pants and denim bag.
Soon after the official release of the album, fans reportedly flocked to Levi's to get their own denim clothes and mimic the singer's styling, according to CNN.
The denim brand reportedly saw a 20% increase in visits to its stores during the week of Easter compared to its average in the past three years. While Levi's did not publicly share any sales data about this spike, increased traffic to its retail stores most likely translated to more sales.
Apart from Beyoncé sporting all-denim fashion, she also released the song "Levii's Jeans" featuring Post Malone as one of the 27 tracks on her eighth studio album.
Aside from the title, "Levi's jeans" was mentioned several times in the body of the song.
"Boy, I'll let you be my Levi's jeans / So you can hug that a** all day long / Oh, you wish you were my Levi's jeans / Way it's poppin' out your phone."
The clothing company changed its Instagram name to "Levii's" following the album's release. It also updated its profile picture and added "FKA (Formerly Known As) Levi's" and a bee emoji in its new bio.
As of press time, the brand still uses "Levii's" as its name on Instagram.
"Denim is having a moment, and the Levi's brand is heaving a powerful moment around the world. I don't think there's any better evidence or proof point than having someone like Beyoncé, who is a culture shaper, to actually name a song after us," said Levi's CEO Michelle Gass at a recent earnings call, per CNN.
Sellers of Western boots also experienced a spike in sales after the release of "Cowboy Carter."
CNN reported that the sales of Western boots increased by 24% in the week of March 29 and rose to 45% after "Texas Hold 'Em'" topped the Billboard chart, citing market research firm Circana's data.
This is not the first time the multi-awarded vocalist unintentionally helped raise a brand's sales. In 2017, seafood restaurant Red Lobster experienced a 33% boost in sales after Queen Bey mentioned the restaurant in her song "Formation."
In "Formation," she sings, "When he f**k me good, I take his a** to Red Lobster, 'cause I slay."
