For the first time in a whopping 35 years, CBS network is set to present their first Black soap opera, soon to come to your screen in January 2025.
The daytime opera, titled 'The Gates,' follows the life of a wealthy family in an upscale gated community. The announcement comes days after CBS shared that their daytime talk show, 'The Talk,' will conclude its 15th season later this year.
The President of CBS Studios, Sheila Duckswworth, remains optimistic about the launch, saying that the soap opera will be "everything we love about a daytime drama from a new and fresh perspective."
"This series will salute an audience that has been traditionally underserved, with the potential to be a groundbreaking moment for broadcast television," Ducksworth stated.
