Jennifer Lopez wanted to give the audience the impression that there was something between her and Ryan Guzman when they were promoting their movie nearly 10 years ago, according to the actor's ex-girlfriend.

Guzman's ex-girlfriend Melanie Iglesias recounted the time when he and Lopez promoted their 2015 movie "The Boy Next Door" when she appeared in the recent episode of the "No Chaser" podcast. Iglesias claimed that Lopez convinced her then-boyfriend to pretend he was single because the "Let's Get Loud" singer allegedly wanted to create the illusion that she and her leading man were more than friends.

"She made my ex, oh my God, pretend that he was single to promote the movie," Iglesias said. "The publicists, both of them, called me ... so they were at afterparties together, like, holding hands and stuff to promote this."

The 36-year-old Maxim model did not mention Guzman's name. However, he walked the red carpet with Lopez and did press junkets with the actress-singer when he was still with Iglesias.

In the thriller romance, Gomez played the role of 19-year-old Noah, who had a fatal attraction to his teacher, Claire (Lopez). Looking back at the incident, Iglesias admitted she wasn't happy, especially at how they acted in public while promoting their movie and called out Lopez for pretending that she wasn't aware he was dating someone at the time.

"It was just, like, that sucks," Iglesias said, who played along with Lopez and Guzman's PR for their film.

At the time, Lopez appeared on the now-defunct "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." During her appearance, the host asked if there was "anything goin on" between her and her co-star.

"No," Lopez said.

DeGeneres pressed on and asked if Guzman had a girlfriend. Lopez responded and said she was unsure.

"I think he might? I'm not sure. I know he did... I'm not in his business like that," Lopez said.

The TV host quipped, "Not yet." And Lopez cheekily added, "You never know."

Iglesias said on the podcast that she had already met Lopez at the time. She also wondered why the "Marry Me" actress did not confirm that Guzman was already taken.

"We friggin' met. What do you mean you don't know if he had a girlfriend? We met. You squeezed the s-t out of my hand. I'm still black and blue," Iglesias added.

The model then recalled the time Guzman introduced her to Lopez. Iglesias said it didn't turn out the way she wanted, and it was "sad" because she aspired to be like Lopez. Like the "Hustlers" actress, Iglesias is a Puerto Rican-American from New York City. Lopez allegedly tried to intimidate her.

"I always felt she was someone to aspire towards. She was someone who anything she wanted to accomplish she did," Iglesias shared. "She met me, and she looked me up and down, and she gave me the hardest, firmest handshake in the world. I was like, 'Ow! I'll have my hand back, Jesus.'"

"That's sad because you're someone I love, like, it shouldn't be like that," Iglesias reportedly thought to herself after the disappointing meeting that left her uncomfortable.

Iglesias said she was OK with the arrangement until things were no longer fine with her because Guzman had started going home late. He was reportedly coming home at 2 a.m. Their relationship ended shortly after "The Boy Next Door" was released.
