Matty Healy's Aunt Shades Taylor Swift After Singer Seemingly Disses Him In New Track
Matty Healy has completely moved on from Taylor Swift and is "very happy" in his new relationship, his aunt has said, amid speculation the pop superstar dissed her ex-boyfriend on her new album.
After Swift's new album "The Tortured Poets Department" dropped Friday, fans quickly began dissecting the lyrics of her songs, and many speculated that the track "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" takes a dig at Healy.
The Daily Mail reported that Healy's aunt Debbie Dedes, sister to his mother Denise Welch, appeared to throw shade at Swift over the singer writing about her exes.
During an interview with the outlet, Dedes seemingly suggested that there was more to the story between Swift and the 1975 frontman that he hasn't publicly revealed out of respect for his ex.
"She writes about all her relationships, doesn't she?" Dedes told the Daily Mail. "I don't think it will come as a shock to him at all."
"As my nephew, we know a bit more about what went on than has been in the press," Healy's aunt claimed.
Dedes added that Healy, who has been romantically linked to model Gabbriette Bechtel, is "very happy in his new relationship, so I'm sure he will be focusing on that."
Healy has not publicly responded to Swift's latest release.
However, an unnamed insider told Us Weekly that he feels relieved and "couldn't be happier" with his ex's album.
The source also claimed that Healy's family was glad Swift didn't paint him as a "villain" in her new record.
In "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," Swift sings about breaking up with an ex who wore a "Jehovah's Witness suit" in the summer after he allegedly ghosted her.
"And I don't even want you back / I just want to know if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal /And I don't miss what we had / But could someone give a message / To the smallest man who ever lived?" she sings.
Swift dated Healy in the spring/summer of 2023 following her split from Joe Alwyn.
They are believed to have called it quits in June last year.
The "Cruel Summer" hitmaker and Healy's short-lived romance sparked a massive backlash from her fans at the time due to his past controversial behavior -- which included making problematic comments about Swift's "Karma" collaborator Ice Spice and her ethnicity.
In May 2023, some Swifties released an open letter to the singer, which read in part: "We urge you to reflect on the impact of your own and your associates' behavior and engage in genuine self-reflection."
Swift also appeared to hit out at the judgment toward her relationship with Healy in another track from her new album.
In the song "But Daddy I Love Him," Swift sings, "I'll tell you something right now / I'd rather burn my whole life down / Than listen to one more second of all this b***hing and moaning."
"God save the most judgmental creeps / Who say they want what's best for me / Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see," she continues. "Thinking they can change the beat of my heart when he touches me and counteract the chemistry?"
A separate unspecified source told Us Weekly that Swift gave Healy a heads-up about "TTPD" ahead of its release -- which the musician appreciated.
"He was worried that their story would be shed in a negative light," the insider claimed of Healy, adding he had concerns "the public wouldn't get the full story."
According to the source, Healy seemed "happy he can move on with less anxiety."
