ENSTARZ EXCLUSIVE: What 'Hip-Hop And The White House' Producer Jordan Benston Wants Artists Of 2024 To Know
On Thursday, ENSTARZ attended the New York City premiere of 'Hip-Hop And The White House.'
The street-conscious production, drawn together by an award-winning team of artists and storytellers, focuses on the relationship between hip-hop and politics, following iconic political and cultural moments throughout the decades. The movie is narrated by Atlanta's rap icon Jeezy.
The film details conditions in the streets throughout the 70s and 80s, which would later birth the cultural explosion we know today as hip-hop, including commentary from rap giants like Curren$y, Bun B, YG, political figures including U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, and iconic moments from activist Sister Souljah.
ENSTARZ caught up with one of the producers of the film, Jordan Benston — who's also helped produce the BET Awards — on the red carpet.

"The political message to send to the musicians of 2024 is to be aware of your platform," Benston said regarding her political message to the hip-hop community.
"Be aware of the power that you hold, be aware of the voice you have, and also be aware of your influence," she explained. "The things you say to your audience are bible! They go by it, they stand by it, they're pulling up for it."
"Your words, your actions, your thoughts can literally impact a generation and much more," Benston concludes.
