Diddy’s Assistant Brendan Paul Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Felony Charge: What We Know So Far
Sean "Diddy" Combs' assistant and former Syracuse University basketball player, Brendan Paul, has been charged with one felony count of drug possession.
On Wednesday, the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office charged Paul with felony cocaine possession. They dropped the second charge for possession of a controlled substance, per 'USA Today.'
The former player who worked as an assistant alongside the rap icon was arrested back in March at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive airport during a run-in with the feds at Diddy's private jet.
The arrest took place when the feds reportedly found marijuana candies and cocaine in his bag. This was around the time the Bad Boy Records' founder's Miami and Los Angeles estates were raided by Homeland Security.
The 25-year-old's attorney, Brian H. Bieber, appeared in court on behalf of his client to enter his not guilty plea.
"We entered Brendan's plea of not guilty in Court today," Bieber began in a statement to USA Today. "We will be dealing with this case in the courtroom, not the court of public opinion."
"The defendant had the contraband inside of his person travel bags, which he claimed prior to being searched," documents obtained by the news outlet claimed. Results of the testing concluded that the substances were in fact cocaine and edibles.
Per USA Today, court records show that a trial hearing for the case is scheduled for July 8, 2024. Brenden Paul, Diddy's alleged "mule," was reportedly released the next day on a $2,500 bond.
