Chynna Phillips Says She's Afraid Of Triggering Husband Billy Baldwin: 'I'm Walking On Eggshells'
Chynna Phillips opened up about the challenges in her relationship with husband Billy Baldwin as they navigated the complexities of relocating back to the West Coast.
Phillips expressed frustration in a recent video on her "California Preachin' " YouTube channel, stating, "[It's] frustrating because just when I feel like we're on a roll and things are starting to get better, we start the bickering again."
"I was really proud of myself because we started arguing this morning, and he was like, 'What do you want?' And I was like, 'I want to communicate properly. I want us to have effective communication,' " she shared.
After hearing this from his wife, the 'Fair Game' star reportedly regained "his composure" to engage in a "normal conversation." However, the tense breakdown led her to realize she is constantly adapting her behavior to accommodate his needs.
"Billy's my life partner. He's the one I want to have the healthiest relationship with ... but sometimes I don't," she said.
Phillips, 56, continued: "A lot of times I don't because I don't want to rock the boat, or I don't want to put him in a bad mood, or I'm walking on eggshells."
She acknowledged her need to "learn to trust" her husband of over 30 years rather than fixating on her apprehension about his responses.
"It just comes down to me not wanting to trigger him, but the truth is that me having that fear is keeping us from true intimacy, because it's preventing me from opening up to him, and I'm trying to guard his feelings, and yet I'm causing more trouble in our marriage by doing that," she shared. "I'm shooting myself in the foot."
The Wilson Phillips singer married Baldwin in 1995. She filed for divorce in 2010, but the couple reconciled and she withdrew the filing.
