Tiffany Haddish Had 8 Miscarriages Due To Uterus Disease; Keeps Passing Out Due To 'So Much Pain'
Tiffany Haddish got candid about her reproductive health battle and the pain it caused her in a recent interview.
On Thursday, the "Girls Trip" star, 44, had an exclusive interview with People where she revealed the "f***ing devastating" experience of having a total of eight miscarriages due to endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, causing severe pain and difficulties in conceiving, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Per Haddish, she experienced debilitating pain, passing out and extra heavy painful periods. Before her diagnosis, she was reportedly told she had "a dent" in her uterus. Later, it was found out that she was battling endometriosis.
"The pain is crazy. It feels like somebody is kicking me in my back," the actress said of her condition.
In November last year, she also recalled a time when she went for a visit to her doctor because she "kept passing out."
"She gave me something because I kept passing out. I don't talk about it, but people just think I'm sleep everywhere, but I'm passing out because I'll be in so much pain," she said.
Because of the pain she experienced, she said, "I'm pretty sure the devil is real because the first day of my period, no matter what, the devil goes into overdrive. I feel like my life gets turned upside down."
But among the many painful symptoms she experienced due to endometriosis, her pregnancy losses hurt the most, for her.
"Every time I found out I'm pregnant, I'm like, 'Don't drink, don't smoke, don't do nothin.' Even if I don't really want it, I still try to give [the baby] a chance," she said.
The actress-comedian revealed that her latest miscarriage happened last year. After bleeding so much, she went to the doctor and was told she was miscarrying at the time. She then underwent the dilation and curettage procedure to remove the pregnancy tissue.
Haddish gets more candid about her struggles in her new book "I Curse You With Joy," with the message, "You are not the only one hurting."
The essay collection will be released on May 7.
