Online influencer Landy Parraga Goyburo was shot dead after posting about her location on Instagram. She was 23.

On April 28, the former beauty queen took to Instagram to share a picture of her having octopus ceviche for lunch at a restaurant in Quevedo, Ecuador. Included in the now-expired post was her location, which allegedly gave away where she was to her attackers, according to NDTV.

In the photos and surveillance video obtained by the New York Post, the 23-year-old, wearing a blue and white outfit, was having a chat with a man inside the restaurant when she spotted the masked gunmen sneaking by the door.

One of the gunmen dashed toward her and fired his gun, while the other gunman stayed by the door and acted as a guard. After shooting Goyburo, leaving her motionless and lying in a pool of blood, the attackers left the scene immediately.

It was reported that the 2022 Miss Ecuador contestant was in Quevedo to attend a wedding that weekend.

While the motive behind the shooting was still unknown, there were speculations that it happened because of her alleged association with a prominent drug trafficker.

In December last year, the Lanmi Fit founder's name was mentioned in a chat exchange between drug trafficker Leandro Norero and his accountant Helive Angulo, per the New York Post's English translation of a local report from Ecuavisa.

In a message shown during a trial, it was reportedly revealed that Norero begged Angulo to keep his connection with Goyburo hidden, saying, "If my wife comes across anything about her, I'm screwed. My friend, her name cannot come out anywhere. Otherwise, my world will come crashing down."

Six months into Norero's imprisonment, he was killed in prison. At the time, Goyburo never made any comments related to Norero, the case and her alleged connection with him.

After the news of her tragic passing came out, netizens shared their thoughts on her last Instagram post captioned, "Life is an echo, what you send out comes back to you."

"What a shame, one more dying from posting where she was in real-time. Social media is an enemy. May God give comfort to her family," commented one netizen.

"'Life is an echo, what you send out comes back to you.' The question is, what did she send to get that back?" wrote a different commenter.

"It took a toll on her to be surrounded by those people," claimed another.

Meanwhile, others extended their condolences.

"We will always remember you as that humble woman," commented make-up artist Ronny Castañeda.

"OMG, my friend. I'm left heartbroken," wrote Fiorella Ruiz.

"Fly high, my queen," commented the official account of Miss Ecuador.
