The model escort who accompanied Kylie Jenner to the Met Gala last year alleges he was dismissed from attending this year's ball due to outshining her at the previous year's event.

Italian model Eugenio Casnighi who was a greeter for the museum's previous two events, posted a video on social media to share he was disinvited from this evening's bash by organizers because his appearance eclipsed the likes of Jenner last year.

"I just got fired from the Met Gala," the 26-year-old said next to a snapshot of himself alongside the reality TV star at the 2023 gala.

"Remember me?" he questions, gesturing towards the picture. The clip also features a flashback from last year's event, featuring YouTube influencer Emma Chamberlain interviewing Blackpink's Jennie Kim.

Casnighi looks dashing in his suit as he diligently performs his duties in the background. However, the individual filming the interview becomes captivated by his handsome appearance, causing the camera to shift focus away from Chamberlain and Kim onto him.

The footage quickly gained traction online, accompanied by text overlay reading: "Trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie but..."

Casnighi, who served as a model escort for celebrities at the Met Gala in both 2022 and 2023, reflected on his experience. "It's funny enough," the model remarked. "They fired me so I can say whatever I want now," he said, explaining how his Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) no longer applies.

He went on to reveal that he was slated to return this year, only to find out he wouldn't be making an appearance despite being confirmed to attend a month ago.

"They blamed me," he said. "They said 'you made it about yourself, so we don't want to work with you anymore.' "

"They let me know today that they cut me off," he said in a TikTok clip. "They fired me because I went viral last year." He expressed his disappointment, stating that he had expected to work with Jenner, 26, all night last year, as he had been told to do.

His role involved fulfilling the requests of the Kylie's Lip Kit founder, ensuring she had everything she desired. He believed he had fulfilled his obligations and was therefore dismayed to learn of his removal from the event with only a two-day notice.

In a second TikTok video, the model shared screenshots of texts and emails regarding his hiring for the star-studded fundraiser. According to his receipts, Casnighi was forbidden from posting any content from the Met Gala after the fact, even if he appeared in it.

The 2024 Met Gala is scheduled for Monday, May 6.
