Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sued For $3 Million By Man Who Claims His Bodyguard Assaulted Him In Los Angeles
A man who claims he was assaulted by Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s bodyguard is attempting to sue the boxing gloves off of "Pretty Boy Floyd," per a lawsuit filed January in Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez, he spotted the welterweight champ at Yard House L.A. Live restaurant on February 10 in 2022 and began recording Mayweather with his personal cellphone.
Per the Los Angeles Times, the filing claims the fighter spotted Martinez filming before his bodyguards were signaled.
At that time, one of the boxing champ's bodyguards allegedly began "wrestling with the plaintiff in an attempt to confiscate the plaintiff's cell phone, causing further injuries to the plaintiff."
The filing also claims that "by reason of the aforementioned acts, the plaintiff was placed in a great fear for his life, health, and safety."
The documents name The Money Team LLC specifically, and the Yard House as defendants, per the news outlet.
Martinez alleged that the bodyguard "approached him and negligently, carelessly, intentionally, maliciously and/or physically touched, struck, and/or hit [Martinez] by striking" him.
Causes of action listed include assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, general negligence and negligent hiring, training, and supervision.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call alleging battery and assault on that day and that location; however, according to The Times, no report was taken.
Documents obtained by RadarOnline state Martinez is demanding a jaw-dropping $3 million in damages.
This consists of $1.5 million in general damages, $500k for future medical expenses, $40k in past medical expenses, $300k for loss of future earnings, and $1 million in punitive damages.
