Johnny Depp's film "Jeanne du Barry" was allegedly pulled from local theaters due to low ticket sales.

Over the weekend, X user @cocainecross posted about the film and said it only sold two tickets during its Hollywood premiere. In another tweet, they posted that Sherman Oaks is the only theater left in Los Angeles showing the historical drama film, and it only sold 7 tickets there.

"Unfortunately, due to low ticket sales, 'Jeanne du Barry' has already been PULLED from most theaters in Los Angeles," the uploader claimed.

When the film's release in U.S. theaters was announced in March after it premiered in France, one netizen already predicted that it would not perform well in the country.

"'Jeanne Du Barry' already flopped globally, and now it gets to flop again in America," the netizen tweeted.

While Depp's first film in four years allegedly recorded low box office sales when it opened in theaters last Thursday, it was reportedly pulled for a different reason. Ever since, it was only scheduled for a limited run of screenings from May 2 to 6, according to TMZ.

Screen Rant also previously reported in March that Depp's return to the big screen with the French film directed by Maïwenn was only a limited release.

"Johnny Depp's return to US theaters with 'Jeanne Du Barry' may not be as triumphant as fans hoped due to limited release," the outlet wrote at the time.

Per TMZ, since the 117-minute film is completely in French, it was "never meant to be a ticket-sale machine."

"Jeanne du Barry" debuted on the big screen at the opening night gala of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival as an official selection.

Palace Films described it as a film "freely inspired by the life of the titular rags-to-riches social climber [and] working-class woman (Maïwenn) who became the mistress of King Louis XV (Depp)."

The film is also on its premiere season in Australia. It is available in 25 theaters across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Western Australia, per Palace Films.
