Ben Affleck Feels 'Overwhelmed And Henpecked' By Jennifer Lopez; Wants 'Out Of Her Shadow': Report

Ben Affleck is taking some time for himself as he allegedly feels "henpecked" in his marriage to Jennifer Lopez, a report has claimed.

Affleck raised eyebrows this week when he was absent for his wife's big night as a co-chair of the 2024 Met Gala. The Oscar winner was also missing when Lopez was honored at the Hispanic Federation Annual Gala last month.

While People and other outlets cited scheduling conflict as the reason for Affleck's absence, an unnamed source claimed to In Touch Weekly that the usually inseparable pair have been actively "spending time apart" in recent weeks.

According to the source, the "Justice League" actor allegedly felt "overwhelmed and henpecked" by Lopez's "need to make their relationship so public and perfect."

"He just needs to be by himself sometimes, out of her shadow," the insider told the outlet.

However, the source said this does not mean their marriage is on the rocks.

The singer-actress reportedly has been supportive of Affleck's needs and "giving him some breathing room," the source said.

"She knows he loves her. He just needed a break from the red carpets and publicity that she craves," claimed the insider.

"Ben thinks having independent lives and separate interests is healthy for the relationship. J.Lo doesn't totally agree, but she gets it."

Lopez and Affleck began dating in 2002 and got engaged later that year, but they ended up calling it quits in 2004.

After going on to marry and then divorce other people, the pair rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot the following year.

In Lopez's documentary "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," the "Argo" director revealed he told Lopez he did not want a "relationship on social media" when they got back together three years ago.

However, Affleck said he learned to compromise after realizing that it was unfair of him to ask this of Lopez.

"It's sort of like, you're gonna marry a boat captain and you go, 'Well, I don't like the water,'" he explained in the Amazon Prime film.

Affleck and Lopez were last publicly photographed together in the first week of April.

Photos obtained by Page Six showed the couple house hunting and visiting various townhomes on the Upper East Side in New York City at the time.

Weeks later, Lopez flew solo at the 2024 Met Gala, where she stunned in a sheer Schiaparelli gown encrusted with gems.

Her husband missed the event as he had to film "The Accountant 2" in Los Angeles, his rep told People.

Affleck also skipped the Met Gala last year due to "work commitments he could not get out of" in L.A., according to the Daily Mail.
