Prince Harry Reportedly Forced To Stay At London Hotel Shows ‘Deteriorated’ Relationship With Royal Family: ‘It’s Sad’
Prince Harry was reportedly forced to stay in a luxe hotel in London despite a total of 22 royal residences sprinkled throughout the country.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in the U.K. on Tuesday to celebrate the decade anniversary of the Invictus Games, a competitive sporting event he founded to benefit the physical and mental well being of current and former servicemen and women.
Grant Harold, who reportedly worked for King Charles for seven years, told the New York Post that Harry's hotel stay may be a reflection of the tension between him and the royal family.
"I think that just shows the state of the relationship between Harry and the family," Grant began.
"Obviously, Harry did have apartments at Clarence House. Clarence House is a huge property — it just goes to show the divisions between him and the family.
"If you come to the UK and you have family here, you would probably stay with them, wouldn't you? I think it's a very clear signal that the relationship between Harry and his family has deteriorated," he alleged, adding that the circumstances are "sad."
According to the news outlet, Harry, 39, and his wife Meghan Markle were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, a royal home gifted to them as a wedding present by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal author Tim Quinn alleged that King Charles' decision to evict the "runway royals" left Harry burned.
In addition to losing a royal residence they reportedly thought would "always be there for them," Harry and Meghan, 42, have lost their bid for taxpayer-funded UK security protection, leaving them to dig in their own pockets for travel security.
Per the news outlet, Prince Harry is scheduled to depart from the capital on Thursday for a planned trip to Nigeria where he will be reunited with his wife, as the duo was invited by the country's chief of defense.
It will be their first trip to Nigeria as a couple.
