Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles are celebrating their first wedding anniversary!
According to 'Essence,' Stanlo Photography posted an image capturing the emotional scene of the Chicago Bears player shedding tears as the Olympic gymnast made her entrance down the aisle during their second wedding ceremony held in Mexico.
PEOPLE reports that Owens, 28, and Biles first exchanged vows on April 22, 2023 in a courthouse ceremony in Houston. The couple commemorated their union with a second wedding in Cabo San Lucas where they traditionally jumped the broom.
The photographer captioned a video of Owens in tears with the words, "Happy Wedding Anniversary."
During the video, the NFL safety can be seen taking deep breaths as he tries to compose himself. Eventually, Owens retrieves a tissue from his jacket pocket to wipe away the tears.
As previously reported by ENSTARZ, Owens faced criticism after referring to himself as "the catch" on an episode of 'The Pivot' podcast. He mentioned that he was unaware of Simone's identity before they connected on the dating app Raya.
Biles, 27, the most decorated gymnast in history, sat with 'Call Her Daddy' podcast in April, saying her husband never said she "wasn't" a catch.
"That really hurt that they were talking about my husband like that," Biles explained. "For me it's like, talk about me all you want, but don't come for my family — never."
"I've been in the limelight long enough where I can brush things off," the Ohio native said. "Have my little pow-wow about it, you're not going to know I cried about it, but I will be crying about some stuff. But...I only cry about it because I can't clap back."
