Jennifer Lopez raised eyebrows after a clip of her from the 2024 Met Gala made the rounds on social media where she was allegedly being "rude."

USA Today reporter Anika Reed shared a clip of the 54-year-old celebrity making her way into the gala on TikTok. Lopez was sparkling in her silver gown while on the famous Meta Gala steps.

"Who are you wearing tonight?" Reed asked.

"Schiaparelli," Lopez tersely replied with a blank facial reaction as she continued to make her way up the steps.

"#metgala co-chair (and my birthday twin) @JLO briefly told me about her look for the night: Schiaparelli. #metgalaredcarpet #metgal2024 #jlo #jenniferlopez #redcarpet #schiaparelli," the caption read.

However, many were not happy with the way Lopez responded to the reporter, noting how she was being "rude." The netizens flooded the comment section with sarcastic comments about Lopez being "kind," "warm" and "a ray of sunshine" with laughing emojis. Several also called her out.

"So dismissive," one commented. Another opined, "The way she said it. Like Schiaparelli... you peasant."

"I HATE Jennifer Lopez with absurd passion," a third person added.

"Disgusting energy this woman has, it's sickening," a fourth user said.

"Ruuuuuuuude," a different user wrote, while another said, "A rude a*s Leo. [N]othing new here."

"She does not care about beating the rude allegations.... at all," one wrote with a crying emoji. Another added, "Bold attitude for someone GRIPPING her place in [the] public consciousness."

"Jen the way the internet has been having you. I'd be a little more friendlier. Just a touch," a different user suggested.

"You'd think she'd fake that 'niceness' a little considering how much hate she gets now. [G]ive us more reason to hate u," a different netizen said with a face with tears of joy emoji.

Despite the backlash, other netizens chose to understand Lopez. They noted that there was nothing wrong with her answer and that the actress still took the time to respond and didn't ignore the reporter. Others praised Lopez for being herself.

"Jlo doesn't mind being a b and I love that about her!" a fan wrote. Another praised her look, "She looks stunning though."

"I don't think she was rude," another commenter wrote, defending Lopez. "I think she was just neutral in her tone and not overly kind or overly mean, just perfectly in between."

Lopez has suffered low ticket sales for her upcoming concert "This Is Me...Live" tour. Her ninth studio album with 13 tracks was also her lowest-ranked album. She canceled numerous tour dates in Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa and New Orleans and lost lost 39,000 followers after the cancellations.

Emily M Austen, who runs the PR agency EMERGE, said the backlash against the celebrity has been "bubbling for a while." The PR expert also said that the "Let's Get Loud" singer has not "done a good enough job of engaging with new fans and bringing them on the journey with her."
