Cardi B Says She's Not A 'Racist' After Calling Met Gala Dress Designer 'Asian And Everything:' ‘My Mind Was Racing’
Cardi B took to social media to make things "very clear" after social media slammed her for her Met Gala remarks in a clip obtained by TMZ.
Cardi, formally Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, was asked by 'Vogue' magazine red carpet correspondent Emma Chamberlain about how she was feeling.
The 31-year-old admitted that despite feeling like "I'm that b***h... you b****es could never," she also was quite nauseous with a bit of a headache due to the weight of the "extreme" look.
With so much happening, it appears Cardi had a brain fart when asked about the designer she was wearing.

"I feel amazing, it's this amazing designer... they're Asian and everything — so, yeah," she responded.
Her reply sent social media into a frenzy with claims that she's "racist," but the Grammy Award winner stood up for herself in a recently viral clip, saying the former director of 'Vogue' may have "felt offended or something, or whatever."
"I see a lot of you guys fake gagging on Twitter," she began. "When I was on the carpet I was very scared because the dress was supposed to be like, on a little podium and I've been practicing how to pose on the podium but at the carpet I wasn't allowed to use the podium."
"So I had a lot of things on my mind and I was being rushed to the front of the line. So when I was getting interviewed I kind of forgot [how] to pronounce the designer's name because his name is a little complicated, so I was like, 'D**n, to pronounce his name'," she said flustered.
"My mind was just racing," she explained.
The gown was created by Chinese designer SenSen Lii of Windowsen — who doesn't seem to be as bothered as social media would like to think. The couture designer capitalized on the opportunity to elaborate on the intricacies of the gown via Instagram.
"I associated fertile, Vast Black Soil with the theme — All kinds of beautiful flowers grow on the Vast Black Soil, rich earth used for planting Crops and flowers. A single black rose grows in this Vast Black Soil," Windowsen wrote.
"The whole dress uses nearly 3000 meters of organza. It symbolizes the vastness of the land." they concluded.
Cardi B's appearance at "The Garden of Time" 2024 Met Gala event marks her fifth visit to the fashionable extravaganza.
